THE WEEKEND OF SURPRISES:

FOOTBALL IS REAL MADNESS Yes, football is madness. That was Sir Alex Ferguson's remark after his Manchester United won the 1999 champions league final against Bayern Muchen in the most dramatic manner. At the weekend, so many football fans were entertained to surprises but the most shocking was the humiliation of Leicester city at the hands of Manchester United and Chelsea at Arsenal On a good day, Manchester United was suppose to beat Leicester but not in the manner at which it was executed. Leicester United is a team known for their defensive masterclass and, coordination, sacrifice and direct running but surprisingly a rampaging Manchester United mesmerized them by scoring four goals in the first 45minutes of the game. The funniest of the show was three of those goals coming from corner kicks. I'm reserved on this but i will always question myself whether or not Leicester, the team that won the league last year have turned back to be the Leicester that fights against re...

WHEN YOU'RE GOOD ENOUGH, YOU'RE OLD ENOUGH:

KELECHI, RASHFORD AND IWOBI TEARING THE LEAGUE APART The trio of Kelechi Ihenacho, Marcus Rashford and Alex Iwobi have all grown to become indispensables at their various clubs. This are young guys who are hungry and who give enough class and option to their various clubs. Iwobi in particular ran riot against the blue half of London at the weekend where his masterclass tore Chelsea apart and eventually won him the man of the match. This trio are guys that have proved to be good enough to defy their young age and also to give their managers food for thought. I watched Manchester United against Leicester city and also watch Arsenal against Chelsea. My conclusion was if these guys (RASH, KELECHI, IWOBI) would continue this way the premier league defenders will need the FBI to always guide them. On this note i say this guys are old and older because their game speaks volume

Carrick Perfect for Pogba

Image
CARRICK TO GET THE BEST OUT OF POGBA Toward the tail end of last season, Carrick looked a player to go indeed after bidding the streetforth end a good bye after the final game of last season against Bournemouth. The sack of LVG and the appointment of Jose Mourinho change the scenario and he penned a new one year contract. In Jose Mourinho's first press conference as a Manchester united manager, he made it clear what united had lacked all the years was a runner with the ball in midfield and to that end, he spent  £ 89M to bring back Paul L. Pogba in a world record deal. Pogba slotted into the started eleven immediately but has not really been his best after five games. The British media are beginning to rip into him and those Mourinho him self called Einsteins are beginning to waddle in the debate. Since Paul's arrival, he has played in a mildfiled of two with Marouanne Fellaini a player whom every united fan thought was going to be the first casualty of the new era. Fella...

UNINTERUPTED POWER SUPPLY FOR 40 UNIVERSITY

The Federal Government is working on a plan for uninterrupted power supply to 40 federal universities within the next 18 months,  The Guardian  reports. To this end, the ministers of education and power, works and housing; Mallam Adamu Adamu and Babatunde Fashola (SAN) respectively, have begun to collaborate to meet the target. It was revealed at a meeting held in Abuja yesterday by representatives of both ministers that the project would be implemented through the Energizing Education Programme Initiative (EEPI). A statement from the Deputy Director Press of the ministry of education, Ben Bem Goong, informed that the project will be executed through the utilization of off-grid Independent Power Projects (IPPs) and Public Private Partnership (PPP) structures.

ROONEY: RASHFORD'S ATTITUDE IS FANTASTIC

Image
Rooney thinks Rashford will become great "Marcus is incredible," replied Rooney. "He was thrown in last season when we, the other players, weren’t sure he was ready. But he was thrown into the [Midtjylland] game and got two goals. Since then, he hasn’t looked back. "I think his attitude is fantastic. He wants to work, he wants to learn and some of the younger players nowadays in football haven’t really got that attitude. It’s great to see and he’s getting his rewards for it. He is some talent and, if he keeps going, he’ll be a real star for this club and for England." Still only 18 years old, Rashford has already scored six goals this season - three for United and three, a hat-trick, for England's Under-21 team - and Rooney feels that freedom is a factor in the youngster's success. "Of course, we encourage him but, with players like that, you just want to let them play. You don’t want to teach them how to play football because they [already] ...

City's draw; perfect for us....... Rooney

WAYNE ROONEY RESPONDS TO CRITICS The Manchester united skipper had this to say when he was on MUTV when he was questioned on his bad form ''Yeah, I think I’ve had that my whole career – a little bit more of late, I think, but that’s football. I listen to my coaches and my team-mates, the people around me, and I don’t really listen to what a lot of people out there are saying because a lot of it is rubbish. "I have to focus, work hard, of course, and I’ve done that throughout my career. I’ve worked hard and tried to do my best for the team. "I’ve done that [played in different positions] throughout my career. I feel I can play in all positions but I think the manager has made it clear either I’ll play up front or in the no.10 and that’s where he sees me playing. As I said before, it’s not just myself – the whole team is going in and working hard. We had a bad week but we’ve been working hard to put that right." "We got the win last night, we’ve got t...

Will MOURINHO get the best of OCT ???

Image
Jose's genius claim to be tested in October Jose Mourinho just as everybody knows him will always be Jose. But the past few months have been very rough for him to say the very least. It started at Swansea in mid August 2015, to the Eva Carnerio case, to been betrayed by his players after the Leicester city second leg defeat and finally to his sack as Chelsea FC manager. His pedigree got him the biggest job in the premier league in Manchester and things looked nice. He looked a reinvigorated man, a re energized man and a man out to prove a point after winning his first five official games in charge. How time change and event changed. The defeat to his old foe at the blue half of Manchester during the derby ended his honey moon and trouble set in by having a win less streak of three games in EIGHT days; first at the derby, later was at Feynoord  and the most surprising was at Watford where himself and his team were second to been best. Mourinho made amends at the EFL cup ...

Nigeria Economy and the way Forward

Our Economy and the way Forward I've seen and heard so many young men, erudite scholars and even noble men criticize the present or the past administration for the countries economic woes. This is touching and we all need to trace our steps as a nation and navigate a pathway out of our present predicament. I will be straight here that the oil boom of the 1970s led Nigeria to neglect its strong agricultural and light manufacturing bases in favor of an unhealthy dependence on crude oil. In 2002 oil and gas exports accounted for more than 98% of export earnings and about 83% of federal government revenue. New oil wealth, the concurrent neglect of other economic sectors, and a lurch toward a static economic model fueled massive migration to the cities has led to increased widespread poverty, especially in rural areas. A collapse of basic infrastructure and social services since the early 1980's accompanied this trend. By 2002 Nigeria's per capital income had plunged to abo...

President Buhari at 71st United Nation General Assembly, His speech

Image
The President of the General Assembly His Excellency Mr. Peter Thomson The Secretary General of the United Nations Mr. Ban Ki-moon Your Excellencies Heads of State and Government, Distinguished Delegates, Ladies and Gentlemen Mr. President, Let me, on behalf of the Government and People of Nigeria, congratulate you on your well-deserved election as the President of the 71st General Assembly. I assure you of Nigeria’s support in steering the affairs of the General Assembly in the next one year. I take the opportunity to also express my appreciation to your predecessor Mr. Mogens Lykketoft, for the achievements recorded during his tenure. Mr. President, Last year, I presented my first address to the General Assembly after my assumption of office as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Indeed, it was a remarkable year, which not only celebrated the gains of the Millennium Development Goals, but also witnessed the adoption of the 2030 agenda on Sustainable Development. The...

Fabregas the hero at EFL cup

Image
The dramas and memes of the league was also on display at the game between the Foxes and the Blues at the EFL cup match. Leicester took the lead at the 17th minute through the energetic Shinji Okazaki and looked heading for the maximum point on the 34th minute when the goal scorer doubled his tally to give his club the a double goal lead but the flashes of brilliance from Garry Cahil and Ceaser Azpilicueta changed the game. Musa Ahmed had a late opportunity to win the game but A. Begovic will not be beaten a thrid time at goal. The moment the beast in Cesc Fabregas has been waiting for finally came at the first half of the extral time when he magnificently buried two clean goals. The first a clear understanding and reading of the game between himself, Hazard and Costa, on the second goal, you need to see the celebration and the meaning to it. if chelsea FC are to fight for any major silverware this season then Fabregas will have to play often. His place is not on the bench but on the ...

There's always a way out, Never give up

Shake off Your Problems A man’s favorite donkey fall s into a deep precipice; He can’t pull it out no matter how hard he tries; He therefore decides to bury it alive. Soil is poured onto the donkey from above. The donkey feels the load, shakes it off, and steps on it; More soil is poured. It shakes it off and steps up; The more the load was poured, the higher it rose; By noon, the donkey was grazing in green pastures. After much shaking off (of problems) And stepping up (learning from them), One will graze in GREEN PASTURES.  The bottom line is that with persistence, hard work/labor you will get out of your mess. life has never been fair or rosy but yet you've survived it. i challenge you never to give in or give up
