GODFATHERISM: THE BANE OF NIGERIA POLITICS AND DEMOCRACY

Image
Godfatherism is a political slave trade where the Godfather is the slave merchant while the godson is the political slave or otherwise, a political article up for sale. It is the practice of political office seekers getting connected to an individual who is believed to have the ability to deliver desired outcome in an electoral contest.  The history of political godfatherism is traceable to the colonial epoch through independence era, military interregnum and towards the restoration of democracy in Nigeria in what came to be known as the fourth Republic in 1999 following the terminus of military junta. The staggering posture of godfatherism in Nigerian democratic system leaves much to be desired. This stems from the fact that since the adumbration of this nascent democracy on the 29th day of May, 1999, Nigerians have witnessed uncontrollable political crisis that has threatened the existence of the nation, participatory democracy, peace, security and consolidation of democracy as ...

INDECENCY:A MENACE TO AFRICA CULTURAL HERITAGE

Image
©Ajose, Oluwaseun Marvelous2020 The beauty of Africa cultural values is on its way to be called carcass due to the fact that we find so much interest in the western culture, oh! What a disastrous voyage; how i which we can wake up from our slumber and see the endowment and the beauty of Africans from the angle of dressing.  Indecency which is now the most deadly disease in Africa has murdered thousands of cultures leaving the practitioners to go astray. Before the colonial era, communities and societies that were commingled to form modern Nigeria were known for their awesome cultural practices.  However, with the advent of colonialism some of these cherished and age-long traditions were traded away. The Africans embraced the European sense of dressing and abandoned theirs because of our level of our gullibility. Since then, the sense of dressing of the colonial masters have been become conspicuous.  Africans,  most especially Nigerians have given out most prominence ...

Always, There's Hope

Image
Do you remember the historic football match between Nigeria and Brazil in Atlanta 1996. General Sani Abacha was  the president of Nigeria,  Jo. Bonfere was the Chief Coach of the dream team, Nwankwo Kanu fully on ground as the Captain of the team etc. Brazil was the king of global football and they knew it. So, Nigeria losing to Brazil that night would not be a big deal. Gosh! Brazil dealt with us that night. Till around 77th minutes (about 12 minutes to the end of the game) Brazil was obviously dominating the game. The score line was Brazil 3, Nigeria 1. Despite the Brazil squad including star names such as Carlos, Rivaldo, Bebeto and Ronaldo, Nigerians watching the game still think Nigeria did not deserve such humiliation by Brazil boys, we had been beaten mercilessly.  Nigerians became angry towards the end of the match; many had turned off their Television sets, some were shedding tears, while few hoped and prayed that we would not be further disgraced wit...

WHY DO YOU CRY

WHY DO YOU CRY WHY do you cry? I’m asking again and again, WHY do you cry? And again WHY!  Do you CRY? You Trusted Humans and they failed You? Little did you know that they have also been failed before. But  next time, put all your Trust in God. You see that old friend of yours on social Media living big? Little did you know that most of those things are fake. Quote me “ I’m not denying all, but most ” Most people don’t have a house but in the name of societal influence, they want to show big,  but they are liar. Don’t believe everything you see on social media.  Most of them exhaust their last cash on photoshoot. Even if they are real, talk to yourself “My time is coming”.  Never run another man's race You are faced with many challenges but, people won’t understand ? They mount pressure on you and you think you're alone? Little did you know that “The weather is the same” it depends ...

Ojudu Withdraws From Governorship Primaries

The Speech... We are in this battle to win it... My dear Compatriots, For the past two years we have transversed Ekiti state, knocking on doors, engaging our people and canvassing for support for our programmes. During that period, we learned a lot more about this state: the goodness of our people, the pureness of their intentions, and the tenacity of their courage. We have worked very hard, but like you all know, hard work is never the sole prerequisite for success in politics. Through the embarrassing events of last weekend’s botched Ekiti governorship primary election, its aftermath in the state, and the efforts of our revered leaders from the Southwest this week to save our dear party from ruination in Ekiti State, I have learned many lessons. Key among the lessons is that you never can tell the man who will attempt to destroy what many others have built from one who will aspire to elevate that which is thrust into his hands. From what has happened since May 5 to date, ...

The power in Silence

A seed grows with no sound, but a tree falls with huge noise… Destruction has noise, but creation is silent. In your success remain silent as there is power in silence. Grow Silently! Cultivate Silence A farmer discovered that he had lost his watch in the barn. It was no ordinary watch because it had sentimental value for him. After searching high and low among the hay for a long while; he gave up and enlisted the help of a group of children playing outside the barn. He promised them that the person who found it would be rewarded. Hearing this, the children hurried inside the barn, went through and around the entire stack of hay but still could not find the watch. Just when the farmer was about to give up looking for his watch, a little boy went up to him and asked to be given another chance. The farmer looked at him and thought, “Why not? After all, this kid looks sincere enough.” So the farmer sent the little boy back in the barn. After a while the little boy came out with ...

Remember that God's way is not your way

Sometimes no matter how many prayers we pray, or how many tears we shed, or how many hearts get broken. God says no, because He has a better way and answer. GM Yomex_Adrian

Secret to reward

"So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up." (Galatians 6:9, NLT) Say O Lord, reward me with blessing all that I have laboured for this week. "Application is the Key to activation"

The Art / Act of Forgiveness

Forgiveness is widely accepted as a central doctrine of Christianity. God is a just, but forgiving Father, who sent Jesus to pay the price for our sins so that we could be forgiven of them. And because we are forgiven of our sins, we are cleansed and become presentable to the Father as His children. Jesus even taught us a lot about forgiveness. In Matthew 6: 9-13, He teaches us the Lord’s Prayer, and in it he teaches us to pray for our forgiveness, as we have also forgiven those that have sinned against us. He adds in verse 14 and 15 that we should forgive so that the Father in Heaven should also forgive us. In Matthew 18:21-22, when asked how many times we should forgive, he tells us to forgive our brother seven times seventy times. In Luke 17:3, He says “If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him.” He didn’t just teach about forgiveness either, He practiced it and He lived it. In John 8, a woman caught in adultery was brought to Him. They expected Him to enf...

Motivation for today

Sometimes ago,  the dog and the elephant were very good friends. In the process of time,  the both conceived but they were not delivered of their baby thesame time/year. The dog had delivered and conceived again and delivered again and again and again until one day; the dog walked up to the elephant and challenged her saying "we conceived thesame time and I have about four to five different set of offspring, what nonsense do you have in you that you're still carrying? " The elephant reply thus, "you always give birth to puppies but when my baby is out, you'll see its an elephant and it's start to walk immediately,  when people and car see him pass,  they give way" Bottom line is that it doesn't matter how long you've been waiting to deliver,  it's still still never late.  Let them go at their own pass while you manage and invest in  your time to see good and do good all your life

While addressing the press, Ronaldo is quoted as saying "This is a special day for me, to continue this link with the club of my heart, it is a unique moment for me, but it is not my last contract. My aim for these five years is to keep making history, giving my best for this jersey. "For sure I will do the same as before, give everything to win trophies, and score goals. So thanks to everyone, my family, the people who work with me every day, and Real Madrid. Many thanks." "[Since joining] I have improved a lot as a play...
